Former Edo State Governor and Senator representing Edo North Senatorial District, Adams Oshiomhole, has refuted claims that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is involved in vote-buying during the ongoing Edo State elections. Oshiomhole dismissed the allegations as baseless and "laughable," stating that there was no evidence to support such claims.
Speaking to journalists after casting his vote at Iyamho, Ward 10, Unit 01, in Estako West Local Government Area, the former governor emphasized that the election was being conducted peacefully. He noted that no reports of violence had been received from any part of the state.
Oshiomhole remarked, "It is laughable when I hear this kind of allegation. You have been around; did you see anywhere where money is being shared? People turned out in large numbers to vote for us because they want good governance."
He credited the large voter turnout to his previous achievements as governor, asserting that his past actions in office are why people continue to support the APC. “During our campaign, people came out to see me, not because I wanted to give them something, but because of what I had done for them while I was in office. The structures I put in place over a decade ago are still standing, unlike those of the current administration, which have deteriorated within a year,” Oshiomhole added.
He concluded by reiterating the difference between his administration and the current government, asserting that many communities have not felt the real presence of governance since his departure.
As the election continues, Oshiomhole and the APC remain focused on ensuring a peaceful and fair process, standing firm against the vote-buying allegations.
